Mrs. Bernice C. Slezak age 88 of Grand Rapids died peacefully with her children by her side on Monday January 16, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, infant daughter Joan , sisters, Estelle and Marie, brother Chester, Surviving are her three children: Judy (Dan) Potyraj, Dave (Sara) Slezak, Shelly (Gary) Klap, grandchildren: Kristie (Pete) Simon, Jennifer (Dave) Nyeholt, Danielle (Travis) Van Setters, Pam Slezak, Laure (Brad) DeRuiter, Aaron (Clara) Klap, Jessica Klap, great grandchildren: Peter, Grace, Brendan, Paige, Jacob, T.J., Kristina, Brent and Avery, sister Esther, brother Edward (Charlene), many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Slezak was a member of Catholic War Veteran Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Theresa and Welfare and Rosary societies of Basilica of St. Adalbert . A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 10:30 at the Chapel of St. Ann's Home, 2161 Leonard St NW. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd. and Thursday at St. Ann's Home one hour prior to the Funeral. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. Ann's Home. Bernice will be remembered as a dear wife and loving mother to her family and many others, also a "Nana" to everyone and a faithful servant to her Lord. A special thanks to the Sisters and staff at St. Ann's Home for their compassion and care during moms time spent there.
